At the University of Oregon in Portland, our goal is to promote regional prosperity and provide the infrastructure necessary to inspire creativity, innovation, and belonging through our new nineteen-acre Northeast campus.
In fall 2024, the campus will provide student housing, outdoor, community and event spaces, library services, student support services, and an onsite coffee shop called Kiss on Campus, which has ties to the local community.
Join us as we cultivate a campus environment where every member of the community can thrive and flourish.
The UO Portland capital priority has two areas of focus:
- Completing renovations of existing buildings on the UO Portland campus

UO Portland Campus Renovations
The new UO Portland campus will house cutting-edge technology and research, innovative makerspaces, and some of the nation’s most accomplished faculty in their fields.
From flexible classes designed to support our 500 graduate students, to research that gets students out into the field, our academic programs connect our diverse student body with mentorship and hands-on experiences that help propel them in their careers and communities.
Child Behavioral Health Building—UO Portland Campus
The vision for the Child Behavioral Health Building exemplifies the University of Oregon’s core mission of service to the state, nation, and the world in tandem with training the next generation’s child behavioral health workforce.
The Child Behavioral Health Building will house two innovative institutes:
The Ballmer Institute
The Ballmer Institute, made possible by a transformational lead gift from Connie and Steve Ballmer, is a first-of-its-kind training program aiming to address the national crisis in children’s behavioral health.
The Prevention Science Institute
The Prevention Science Institute, a multidisciplinary research institute, focusing on understanding human development, preventing behavioral health problems, and implementing effective interventions in community settings.

“Being able to offer our Portland students an immersive, residential experience, along with the creation of a new profession by the Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health is significant for the UO. There is palpable energy, interest and enthusiasm from alumni and donors about increased connection to the Portland business and professional community and all the opportunity that brings.”
