About the Family Advancement Council
The Family Advancement Council at the University of Oregon is dedicated to advancing educational and career opportunities for students, enhancing student life and well-being, and promoting the university’s distinctive culture of community, tradition, and innovation. The Council achieves these goals by providing leadership and philanthropic support to the Duck Family Fund and other university priorities.
Role and commitments of the council families
As the development board for University Advancement, council families are expected to make an annual gift of $5,000 or more to the Duck Family Fund and/or an additional giving opportunities aligned with their philanthropic capacity and personal passions at the University of Oregon.
Members attend meetings and events with university leaders and serve as advocates and ambassadors for the university. The Parent and Family Engagement and Philanthropy team supports the Council in meeting annual fundraising goals, facilitating opportunities for peer outreach, and hosting events which foster connection and engagement among families.
Members of the Family Advancement Council enjoy:
- Connection to a network of engaged parent and family leaders across the University of Oregon community.
- Access to university leadership and insights, including firsthand information from the Vice President of Advancement and other senior administrators about university priorities.
- Opportunities to participate in special events and conversations with university leaders, fellow families, and members of the UO community through in-person, regional, and virtual programming.
- Recognition at the UO level and invitations to special events throughout the year.
- Special Commencement experiences, including honored guest seating and an invitation to a special event for senior class FAC families.
