About the Family Advancement Council
The Family Advancement Council at the University of Oregon is dedicated to advancing educational and career opportunities for students, enhancing student life and well-being, and promoting the university’s distinctive culture of community, tradition, and innovation. The Council achieves these goals by providing leadership and philanthropic support to the Duck Family Fund and other university priorities.
Role and commitments of the council families
As the development board for University Advancement, council families are expected to make an annual gift of $5,000 or more to the Duck Family Fund or encouraged to consider additional giving opportunities/areas that align with their philanthropic capacity and personal passions at the University of Oregon. Members attend meetings and events with university leaders and serve as advocates and ambassadors for the university. The Parent and Family Engagement and Philanthropy team supports the council in meeting annual fundraising goals, facilitating opportunities for families to engage in peer outreach, and hosting events that foster a welcoming and inclusive community.

“Parent and Family Giving isn’t just about donations—it’s about fostering a sense of belonging and support within the Duck community. From our very first interaction, our mission has been clear: to ensure every family feels valued and empowered to make a difference. Seeing our Duck families engage and create lasting impact through their giving is a testament to the power of philanthropy in higher education.”
–Amy Swank, director of Parent and Family Engagement and Philanthropy
