About The Fund
The James F. and Shirley K. Rippey Chair Fund was established in 1996 to support a senior faculty member in the College of Arts and Sciences, chosen for the position from among faculty who have participated in the Rippey Teaching Innovations program, or from other distinguished senior faculty with similar commitments to undergraduate teaching. Eight year later, in 2004, the James F. and Shirley K. Rippey Professorship Fund in Business was established to support one or more faculty appointments in the Lundquist College of Business., Finally, in 2011, the James F. and Shirley Kendall Rippey Professor of Practice Fund in the Finance and Securities Analysis Center was established. The program is designed to bridge the academic with the practical through the appointment of a non-tenured faculty position at the University of Oregon - the Professor of Practice.
Rippey and his wife, Shirley, who survives him, have been active supporters of the UO for more than 55 years. In 2015, the Rippeys funded the Cameron Center for Finance and Securities Analysis Professor of Practice position in the Lundquist College of Business and established the James F. and Shirley J. Rippey Graduate Fellowship Fund, which provides support for MBA students in perpetuity.
