About the Fund

The Presidential Chairs Endowed Fund was established by Connie and Steve Ballmer in 2005 to support two or more Presidential Chairs at the University of Oregon. These chairs will be used to attract distinguished faculty who excel in research, attract and teach top students, and create an expectation of achievement that can elevate an entire academic department. In 2014, the Evergreen Faculty Endowment Fund was established to recruit and retain faculty within prioritized areas of academic excellence that will allow the university to build on existing strengths and take advantage of new opportunities. The initial areas of prioritized academic excellence supported are Health Promotion, Obesity Prevention, and Human Development.Connie and Steve Ballmer are philanthropists who co-founded the Ballmer Group. Their mission is to reshape opportunity and expand economic mobility across the United States. Since Steve retired, they have focused on removing barriers to success for children and families. They support organizations that use data and investments wisely. Connie led their philanthropic giving during Steve’s tenure and beyond.
