Giving Opportunities

Center for Geologic Hazards
Establish a world-class interdisciplinary institute to study geologic hazards and provide faculty research, student learning, and community education opportunities.

Pine Mountain Observatory Education Facilities
Expand and renovate the facilities to provide for greater educational, community outreach, and astronomical research capacity.

Graduate Research Fellowships
Costs for graduate students are escalating rapidly, and privately funded graduate fellowships in the sciences ensure that we can continue to recruit the best students.

Surface of mars.

At the UO, students learn science by asking fundamental questions about the world around them — and worlds far from Earth. They explore tide pools in their hip waders and the ocean floor in deep-sea submersibles. They learn geology by visiting active volcanoes. They learn particle physics by looking to the stars. Opportunities abound for graduate as well as undergraduate research. Small graduate programs allow students to work closely with world-class scientists. More than 40 percent of science undergraduates also have the chance to conduct research with faculty mentors in more than 150 labs across campus.
