A "baton drop" substituted for the more prosaic ribbon-cutting at the dedication of the newly expanded MarAbel B. Frohnmayer Music Building on March 6. Brad Foley, dean of the UO School of Music and Dance, led the Duck, Dave Frohnmayer, and donors Lorry Lokey, Leona DeArmond, and Bob DeArmond in giving the downbeat for "Fanfare for a New Day," written for the occasion by Robert Kyr, American composer and UO music professor. The Beall Concert Hall lobby now flows into a lovely new clubroom named for Dave and Lynn Frohnmayer's daughter Katie. She died in 1991 at age twelve from complications caused by Fanconi anemia.
