Before coming to Eugene, John Evans, Oregon Bach Festival executive director and president, was head of music for the British Broadcasting Corporation's renowned Radio 3. A native of Wales and vice president of the Welsh Music Guild, he succeeded Royce Saltzman, who cofounded the Oregon Bach Festival with Helmuth Rilling.
