Bernice Ingalls Staton pledges $10 million to fund up to 100 new need-based UO scholarships.

Spring 2002
Ron ’49 and Patricia Peterson give $22.5 million for the Lundquist College of Business expansion, the Autzen Stadium expansion, business scholarships, and new academic ventures.

 

May 16, 2002

The UO celebrates opening of the $1 million Green Chemistry Lab and Alice C. Tyler Instrumentation Center, both funded partly with private gifts.

 

August 30, 2002
The first game is played in the newly expanded Autzen Stadium, a $90 million project funded largely with private gifts that increased capacity to 54,000.

 

2003

June 4, 2003

Eugene business owner Randy Papé is named chair of Campaign Oregon.

 

Fall 2003
Portland businessman Tim Boyle is named vice chair of Campaign Oregon along with fourteen other volunteers appointed to the Campaign Leadership Council.

Dedication of the Lillis Business Complex, a $37.3 million project funded largely with private gifts.

 

2004

A $2.5 million gift from Dave and Nancy Petrone funds scholarships, an endowed Map-Geographic Information Systems Librarian position, and a permanent endowment for the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center.

UO alumni and friends contribute a combined total of $12 million to fund 100 scholarships a year.

January 11, 2005
The UO dedicates the new Many Nations Longhouse, replacing a dilapidated World War II barracks building as a place to honor Oregon Indian tribal culture and history.

 

January 2005

The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art reopens after a $12.2 million renovation that nearly doubles its space.

 

January 29, 2005

"Lights, Camera, Oregon!" gala launches the public phase of the campaign.

Lorry Lokey gives $4.5 million to establish the George S. Turnbull Portland Center for journalism center study in the state’s media center and $2 million more for the music building renovation.

Tim and Mary Boyle give $5 million for the New Venture Championship and new product design program.

The university breaks ground on the James F. Miller Theatre Complex, a $7.8 million renovation of theater facilities.

 

August 20, 2007
Phil and Penny Knight pledge $100 million—the largest gift in UO history—to create the Oregon Athletics Legacy Fund.

The campaign tops its $600 million goal sixteen months ahead of schedule.

 

October 16, 2007
The university announces a $74.5 million gift from Lorry Lokey—the largest academic gift in UO history—to transform science teaching and research.

 

October 26, 2007

The College of Education breaks ground on a $50.5 million expansion project that will nearly double the college’s space.

 

2008

February 19, 2008
The university opens the Lorry I. Lokey Laboratories, a $15.6 million underground signature research center associated with the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute.

 

July 2008
Campaign passes $800 million.

 

October 10, 2008


A $13.67 million gift from Beverly Lewis helps launch a $64 million Integrative Science Building project.

 

December 13, 2008
The university announces it will name its new basketball arena for Matthew Knight, the eldest son of Phil and Penny Knight who died in 2004.

 

December 31, 2008
Campaign Oregon officially ends.

Final campaign total of $853,120,266 million is announced.
