Capital support
- With a $5 million anonymous gift, the school has launched a fundraising effort for a new wing for Allen Hall.
Faculty support
- A $2 million contribution from the estate of Haya Wallace, widow of the late news maga zine journalist James Wallace, established the James Wallace Chair in Journalism, an endowed chair in wri ting and reporting.
- Shirley Papé , M.A.’63, a longtime interview program host on local television, pledged $2 million to establish a chair in electronic media in the school’s new George S. Turnbull Center in Portland.
- Edwin L. Artzt ’51, retired chairman and CEO of The Procter & Gamble Company, added $480,000 to the endowed deanship he established.
- An anonymous donor contributed $2 million to the school’s “faculty fighting fund.”
Student support
- New scholarship programs include the SOJC (Columbia) Scholarship Fund, the Lokey Scholars, and the Scott Bedbury Scholars Program, among many others.

Program support
- Thanks to a $4.5 million gift from Lorry Lokey and an equal gift from an anonymous donor and other contributions, the school was able to open the George S. Turnbull Center in UO’s new White Stag Block in Portland in 2006. The center offers a master’s degree in strategic communication, a senior experience including classes and internships for public relations majors, and workshops and lectures for working journalists.
