School of Architecture & Allied Arts

Faculty support
  • Penny and Michael Wilkes gave $1 million to endow a chair in architectural design in the School of Architecture and Allied Arts.
  • Peter Stott gave $645,000 to establish the Julie Neupert Stott Visiting Professorship in Interior Architecture in honor of his wife, a Portland interior designer
  • Larry and Jan Burton gave $345,000 for support of faculty research, teaching and development in Department of Architecture.
  • Margo Grant Walsh and Gerry and Gunilla Finrow gave $400,000 to develop the Margo Grant Walsh Visiting Professorship in Interior Architecture and the associated Finrow Distinguished Lectureship.
  • Eight recipients of Faculty Excellence Awards have been from the School of Architecture and Allied Arts.
Student support
  • Rick Mather Architects of London established the Rick Mather Architecture Student International Internship Award, which provides a $10,000 stipend to support one summer intern per year.
  • Garth and Joan Brandaw gave $134,000 for the Brandaw Family Scholarship in Architecture, which supports graduate students who work with the school’s expanding design-build organization, designBridge.
  • Judith Rees gave $375,000 to support students in historic preservation.
Program support
  • Thanks to private gifts, the fibers area of the UO Department of Art has the most advanced loom technology in the nation. Artists can use software to design images with many colors, and the computerized Jacquard loom creates woven images using 672 separate hooks.
  • Thanks to significant gifts from Tim and Mary Boyle and others, the school was able to establish a new product design program.
  • Robert L. Thompson and TVA Architects gave $150,000 for the Robert Thompson/TVA Architects Studio Enrichment Fund.
  • Art Demuro/Venerable Group: gave $150,000 for the Venerable Historic Preservation Fund and George McMath Historic Preservation Award.
