The Shire: A Living Lab

In 1995, the John Yeon Trust gave this seventy-five-acre property in the heart of the Columbia RiverGorge to the UO. On this waterfront site, Yeon had created a scenic preserve of meadows, wetlands, vista points, sculpted lawns, and walking paths in a natural context. Today, it is a field study site for A&AA students and faculty members. Plans are developing for a retreat and study center—plans that open the opportunity for an equally visionary gift.
