School of Journalism and Communication

As one of the first professional journalism schools in the country, the UO School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC) has built a national reputation for its emphasis on ethics, its entrepreneurial faculty, and its award-winning students in journalism, advertising, public relations, and communications.

Now, as we celebrate our centennial, and with the completion of a transformed Allen Hall, the SOJC has positioned itself among the most innovative institutions in media education. By integrating theory and practice, the school challenges students to become ethical communicators, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens.

In addition to the cutting-edge work done in Eugene, the Portland Experience and the new master’s degree programs at the school’s George S. Turnbull Center in Portland are preparing professionals to navigate the terrain of an evolving media landscape.
