Personal Gratitude

Giustina Foundation Presidential Scholar Erin Butler received a certificate from UO Interim President Robert Berdahl and donor Dan Giustina at a dinner and reception. Donors and scholars meet face-to-face
For UO freshman Erin Butler, meeting Dan and Ehrman Giustina was a very personal way to say thank you for her scholarship. It was also an inspiration to make the most of her college years. This January, she joined other Giustina Foundation Presidential Scholarship recipients at a dinner sponsored by the Giustinas.
“Of course, it was very meaningful to express my gratitude face-to-face,” says Butler. “But it was also a great sharing experience. I learned a lot about them, and they learned a lot about me. They really cared about what I’m doing here at the university. That makes me want to get involved. They expect the best from us, so that makes you want to be your best.”
Butler plays baritone for the Oregon Marching Band, volunteers at the Museum of Natural and Cultural History, and is active with the Society of College Scholars. She’s currently an anthropology major, but is considering switching to international studies and plans to study abroad.
